After 11 Tools REFLEXIONS

I'm So Glad I MADE IT :)
My favorite tolls were #7 Digital Story Telling and #9 Skype. I'm planning to motivate my students to make photo stories of field trips. special events in the classroom. In Social Studies they can make a photo story about their families and themselves, community and school.
We will use skype to communicate with another PK classroom across the District, State, country or world.

I have learned a lot about technology through the 11 Tools. I realized that the possibilities to use technology in the classroom are incredibly great.
I believe that there are still many new things for me as a teacher to learn. I can apply them with my students in the classroom.

Well, since technology has not been one of my strenghts. I was expecting a difficult task. It was not easy but I got it done, and I'm so GLAD and Proud of myself.
What surprised me was the time I spent on each tool. However it was well worth it.

Tool # 11 DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP

1. Be Responsible on ways of communication. Always set privacy settings. I want them to know that there are many danger by using Internet such as losing your information or cyber bulling. They got to be respectful with anyone at anytime when using any social networking websites.

2. Never share any personal information such as phone number, address, etc
3. Digital Security and Safety
Educate our students to make their Internet experiences safe and responsible avoiding dangerous and inappropriate online behavior. Always remind them to go to pages previously authorized by me as a teacher or their parents, if they see something different to go and ask help an adult.
How I will teach these to my students?
As a Pk teachers and children learn by modeling. I will model digital citizenship in my classroom every day.
I'm thinking on using videos and books.

Tool #10 Exploring Mobile Technology and Apps

Apps are a wonderful way of learning and practice concepts and have fun at the same time. iPods will help a lot to my PK students to develop more their fine motor skills as they use the iPod.
The Apps I reviewed were Ken Ken Lite - uses math concepts to solve puzzles I think its wonderful for students to practice math concepts and have fun.
another was ABC Phonics Animals Free Talking and Spelling Alphabet it is wonderful to learn letters and sounds of the alphabet, new vocabulary and how to spell words.
Paper Toss- Backflip Studios - fun for any age specially for adults

Tool # 9 Sharing Information Through Jing and Skype

Jing can help students in the classroom to share projects and then receive or give feedback. I might use jing with my students making videos to teach routines or other basic concepts.

Skype is amazing. I don't use it at all but I have seen how my daughter in law use it and how she can communicate and see each other with friends or relatives around the world. In the classroom students and teachers can exchange information, experiences, strategies with students across the District, state, or country using skype. I think I can use skype to communicate with an author or another teacher and ask him/her to read aloud to my students. My class can have a partnership with another PK class and communicate thru skype to share ideas or make a project together.

Numbers 1 to 10 - Kids + Children Learn English Songs

Tool # 8 Video Resources

Videos are useful resouces for students because they can understand or retain a basic concept or process in a better way. It can be more interactive, interesting and fun for my students.
The two videos I choose can help my students understand and learn better concepts of numbers 1-10 and basic shapes.
